Esther graduated from Kingston University, London in 1999 with a BA (hons) in Fine Art. She went on to win Artist Residencies, which she carried out at The King's School, Worcester and at a contemporary gallery in Hull, each culminating in a solo exhibition of her work. She was awarded Arts Council funding which enabled her to produce a body of work, and at the same time, she won a placement as part of the AAA2A scheme, again culminating in an exhibition.
Esther went on to work as Education Officer at Quay Arts (following her residency there), and next moved to Birmingham where she worked within the education team as an Education Arts Officer, before having her children and finally becoming self-employed as a Creative Practitioner.
Esther now lives in Beverley, where she makes paintings/drawings and runs creative art courses for adults (currently over Zoom). She works alongside arts organisations to develop and deliver creative learning projects and workshops for adults and school-aged children. Esther works freelance for schools, delivering clothed life-drawing workshops and courses across all ages, to enrich pupils' arts experience and provide greater depth learning.
Esther exhibits her artwork regularly, most recently she had a joint show at Gallery At St Martins. She also exhibited in an online group exhibition with four other artists as part of SheFest.
Esther sells work through her Instagram account (@esthercawley), where you can message her directly. She also sells locally through Art and Soul, (). Esther is also available for individual portrait commissions.
Esther now offers Life Drawing and Portrait classes through Zoom.
