Clothed Life Drawing course at St Mary's Parish Hall, Beverley (2 courses)

Course 1: Tuesdays 10th March, 17th March, 24th March, 31st March, all 1-3pm.  £40 for the course of 4, bookings through Esther on cawleyesther@gmail.com or 07734 200044. Price includes tuition, model, use of drawing boards, tables and chairs.  The space is fully accessible. Numbers are capped at 14. Bring sketchbooks and pencils to first session

Young Creatives (art classes at Beverley Art Gallery)

After school sessions at Beverley Art Gallery for 9-13 year olds.  Children work with Esther Cawley to explore the temporary and permanent exhibitions before working in a range of media to create their own visual interpretations.  Places bookable through the gallery on 01482 392699.

Create a charcoal portrait from life (Hornsea Art Festival)

Three-hour workshop taking place on Saturday 7th March as part of Hornsea Art Festival.  Exercises, demonstrations and 1-2-1 support.  Esther will guide you through a range of techniques to finally produce a charcoal portrait from life.  For further details please visit hornseaartsociety.co.uk Fully booked

 

Life Painting Intensive 2 day course at Hull Minster

To accompany the exhibition at Hull Minster, 'A Different View' (an installation of reproductions from the Sistine Chapel), this 2 day intensive course will give you the opportunity to work from two draped figures.  The first day focuses on drawing techniques to support understanding of proportions, composition, form and tone.  Throughout the second day you will work transfer your chosen composition onto a large canvas and will produce acrylic paintings to take home with you.

Life drawing course at The Treasure House/Beverley Art Gallery:

Six sessions that take inspiration from the contemporary installation piece at Beverley Art Gallery.  Making links between the exhibited artwork and the life model, you will be guided through a range of approaches to figure drawing.  All materials are provided.  Some experience may be useful but not essential. 

For adults and young people aged 16+.  To book call 01482 392699/392703.  The course costs £65 per person for the six week course.  

This 2019 course runs from 10am - 12 noon on Tuesdays as follows:

Place To Create (workshops for ages 9 - 14 at Humber Street Gallery) 

 

Inspired by the ideas presented by the three exhibiting artists, these workshops, led by Esther Cawley,  invite you to come into the gallery and create your own abstract body paintings.  Taking self-identity as a theme and using your bodies as tools for creating drawings and paintings, you will experiment with different ways to generate expressive large-scale artworks.

Workshops will take place on Saturday 2 Feb and Saturday 2 March.  There will be an 11am - 12noon session for 9-11 and a 12.30 - 2pm session for ages 12-14.  

These workshops are FREE, bookings through Eventbrite or contact the gallery.

 

Day-long life painting workshop

A full day to work directly from the model to create large acrylic paintings on canvas.  Demonstrations, tuition and support provided by artists, Nick Matson and Esther Cawley.  All materials provided plus refreshments.

Six week course covering drawing techniques with demonstrations at Beverley's popular 'Nellies' Pub (The White Horse).  Including life models, demonstrations, technical advice, all materials and refreshments.  Culminating in paintings on board and a private viewing of work completed over the course.

Six sessions that take inspiration from the works of Elwell and other artists exhibited at Beverley Art Gallery.  Making links between the exhibited artwork and the life model, you will be guided through a range of approaches to figure drawing.  All materials are provided.  Beginners through to experienced artists are equally welcome.

Portraiture course at The Treasure House/Beverley Art Gallery:

 

This six week course makes reference to the work of artists in Beverley Art Gallery collection.  The sessions will explore portraiture through a variety of devices such as composition, tone, colour and lighting, working directly from the model.  All materials are provided and full instruction is given.  All are welcome, from beginners to experienced artists.

Reconfigured gallery sessions:

 

Reconfigured will be doing workshops at Beverley Art Gallery on Saturday 16th June

'Two clothed life models will be found in the gallery in poses inspired by artworks from the collection.  They will reconfigure the ideas in the artworks by adding a contemporary twist!
